Your wealth is spread across more than one place

Your bank balance is not your net worth.

To understand your complete financial position, you need to combine what you own with what you owe across banks, brokers, retirement funds, property and debt.

Accounts are scattered

Cash, investments, retirement savings and debt are usually held with different providers.

Property is easy to misread

The value of a property is only one side of the picture. The linked mortgage must also be included to see your actual equity.

Retirement money is different

Your total net worth may include money that is not currently accessible, such as retirement annuities, pension funds and provident funds.

Spreadsheets become outdated

A net-worth spreadsheet is only useful when every balance and formula remains current.

See how Libevyn builds your net-worth view

Add your accounts, enter their current balances and see how everything combines into one financial picture.

Video shows scattered accounts, adding assets and debts, entering balances, total assets and liabilities, property equity, accessible versus retirement wealth, and net-worth history.

Build your net-worth view in three steps

You do not need to add every account before Libevyn becomes useful. Start with the largest parts of your financial life and add more over time.

  1. Step 1

    Add what you own

Create accounts for assets such as cash, bank accounts, TFSA accounts, brokerage accounts, retirement funds and property.

  2. Step 2

    Add what you owe

Create accounts for liabilities such as mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and vehicle finance.

  3. Step 3

    See your complete position

Libevyn combines your entered balances and shows total assets, liabilities, net worth, property equity, accessible wealth and balance history.

Start with your biggest assets and debts. You can add smaller accounts later.

See the difference between total wealth and accessible wealth

A single net-worth figure does not tell the whole story. Some of your wealth may be available now, while other money may be held in retirement accounts or tied up in property.

Libevyn helps you see these parts separately.

Total net worth

The combined value of your assets less your liabilities.

Accessible wealth

Assets that may be available before retirement, depending on their account type and circumstances.

Retirement wealth

Retirement annuity, pension and provident balances that form part of your wealth but may not be immediately accessible.

The application provides a tracking and planning view based on account types and information entered by the user. It does not determine legal access to funds.

See what your property actually adds to your net worth

A property worth R2 million does not add R2 million to your net worth when it still has a mortgage.

Libevyn lets you track the property value, ownership percentage and linked mortgage so the resulting equity contributes to your net-worth view.

See whether your wealth is actually growing

A current balance shows where you are today. Balance history shows whether your overall financial position is improving.

Libevyn keeps balance snapshots so you can view changes in assets, liabilities and net worth.

Update your balances over time to build a clearer history of your progress.

A clearer alternative to maintaining a net-worth spreadsheet

Spreadsheet

  • Requires formulas and manual totals
  • Can become difficult to maintain
  • Property and mortgage calculations must be created manually
  • Retirement and accessible wealth may not be separated
  • Charts must be built and updated
  • Multiple profiles usually require separate files

Libevyn

  • Built around assets and liabilities
  • Calculates total net worth
  • Links property and mortgage information
  • Separates accessible and retirement wealth
  • Keeps balance history
  • Supports multiple profiles
  • Provides bulk balance updates

Libevyn does not remove the need to enter your balances. It gives those balances a structured home and turns them into a consistent financial view.

Keep separate wealth views where needed

Create separate profiles for different financial views, such as your personal wealth, your partner's wealth, a combined household view, or another portfolio you manage separately.

Additional profiles may require a paid subscription.
